★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A bit small and overrated...books are not the originals (while true of most book places in Yangon) but still rather expensive. However if you are in the vicinity still worth a visit, just shop around if the book you are looking for is a popular one as you'll likely find it elsewhere for cheaper. Burmese Days by George Orwell costs 3000 kyat on the street or at other bookstores and 12000 kyat here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I first visited this little treasure house in 1987, when I found a 1st edition of Henry Miller's City of Paris on the shelves. Continued to visit almost yearly after that and always enjoyed chatting with the owner, who has since passed away. During the 15 or so years when Lonely Planet Myanmar was banned from entering the country, you could usually buy a new or used copy here under the table, along with other banned titles like Orwell's 1984. I'm in Yangon again now and look forward to chatting with the original owner's son and browsing the shelves for forgotten gems.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A bit difficult to find but has a decent collection of English language books about Burma. We had a lovely time chatting with the owner who is very helpful with book suggestions. Also have a nice collection of Burmese art prints.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In street 37, you will find lots of book seller, some in shops, some setup as stalls on the road, but this one is special.
Great little book store that we were surprised by selection and the passion of the owner. Most books are on Myanmar history with most in English. Go and grab yourself some reading material that will both inspire and inform for your time in Myanmar.
