Rent a scooter in Matupi (I got one at Grace guesthouse where I stayed) and follow directions in maps.me until the path starts.
In Phaneng you need to turn right and drive down into the valley. Keep following this mostly paved road, you follow a river occasionally and at a certain moment you cross it and it goes up to a town on the mountainside. Keep following the road up and up, through town. You reach a gate where you have to pay 500 kyat. Keep driving further until you can't go no more and park. Walk the rest of the way for 30-45 min, the path is pretty clear. Enjoy!
