I am STRONGLY didn’t recommend this place because 1) Head Monk is very aggressive who doesn’t have the compassion and kindness. 2) Basic of Buddhism is compassion and kindness which doesn’t meet to ward to local ( Myanmar ?? ) 3) Head Monk , lack of duty of care with olderly people. (Ie - donations person, 85 years old lady who is disable, unable to sit in the chair that he provided, she need to sit on the wheelchair which he doesn’t allowed and aggressively chard towards her and force to sit on the chair that he provided which is very short chair.) 4) Head Monk, Different level of respectful to the donations people ( ie , as per above situation on (3), I , son of the old lady , can’t stand it anymore and I speak up with my prefer language which is English, “”” what is your problem?””” Why you are so aggressively towards to my mum (85 years, disability), ? Where is your kindness and compassion which is basic of Buddhism? Then he completely changed, I believe that he realises , I am not local . How come , he treat disrespectful to a person who respect and Gave the donations to his temple. Therefore, I am strongly recommend this place , especially HEAD MONK need to improve the level of Buddhism ground.

Excellent place for foreign yogis to do retreats. Chanmyay's method is basically Mahasi method. Maybe not a great place for true beginners, as the retreat is pretty independent. Instructions are precise, clear, and will be effective if you follow them, and the teachers are world class and speak enough English for interviews to be meaningful. However, there is a general like "just do it" vibe with very minimal hand holding. That might be tough for people who are just dabbling, rather than being pretty determined. Oh also it is noisy, and facilities, while adequate, are not luxurious. So it's not like being in Bali or something. At all. But if you want the real deal, that's what you'll find.
