★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I joined the sunrise tour + morning cycling tour. I initially thought that we would cycle to see the sunrise but it was actually by a minivan. Anyway, had a lovely morning. Our guide, Chit, is excellent. He is attentive and knowledgeable. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Grasshoper adventures basically made our trip in Myanmar greater ! We tried 4 rides with them in different cities and each of them was amazing. It allowed us to discover the city easily, no stress or preparation, easy bike, they take you to amazing places and explain you with a good english (which is quite rare in the country). With them we could eat local food that we couldnt have discovered otherwise. We went to hidden gems. We did magic boat rides at sunset, the best moments !!! On top of that the team is very nice and gave us advice for the rest of our visits. A very special thank you to Yeye and Twe Twe!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did the Sunrise and Morning Cycling Tour with our guide Chit. He is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We felt very welcomed and safe when he brought us to cycle around the destinations.
We first took a car to a temple to see the sunrise, while waiting for the hot air balloons to fly by. Afterwards, we had some local breakfast with Chit, before we collected out bicycles and started the rest of the tour. We cycled through the local villages. Chit patiently explained to us the various types of local structures, such as the Stupa, Temple, Monastery, and how they were built. We then visited the Dhammayangyi Temple, which is the biggest ancient temples in Bagan.
We then went to the Ananda Temple, where he explained to us the history and meaning of the different Buddha statues. Afterwards, he even brought us off track to a nice spot with a 360 view of Bagan, before enjoying a nice lunch and taking the minivan back to our hotel.
Along the way, there were many photo opportunities and Chit helped us to take quite a few nice photos. I even joked that he can consider changing job to be a photographer. He speaks good english, and is very warm and friendly. We feel like we have made a new friend in Bagan after the tour. Thank you Chit!

The bicycle are well maintained, good quality.
One more word to thanks our amazing guide, Ye Ye, a passionate and friendly local guy, always going the extra mile to make sure everything is all right and that you fully enjoy the experience.
I definitely recommend Grasshoppers in Bagan, especially the morning ride !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The morning tour with sunrise add-on is a MUST for anyone visiting Bagan and able to ride.
Tour: The tour is well paced and on an excellent route off the main roads when possible. We especially enjoyed the mix of temples with teahouse meals and visits to the local market as well as the different craftsmen - lacquer work and bottle painter. Note: we had more flexibility in our agenda because we were the only ones booked.
Guide: We have had wonderful guides on tours all over the world and Ye Ye was no exception - knowledgeable, friendly, patient. He's just great at what he does. This tour is a high quality experience and an exceptional value for the money. Not only will we tell our friends to visit Myanmar and Bagan, but we'll definitely encourage them to book with Grasshopper and Ye Ye.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just completed our ride with Grasshopper Adventures here in Bagan. We opted to do the Sunrise Experience, followed by the morning ride and we weren’t disappointed with our choice. This was our 6th bike ride in our 4th country with them, so we had high expectations which were happily meet from start to finish.
Our guide for the day was Ye Ye who was very knowledgeable and he gave a very comprehensive & detailed introduction to Bagan history. We cycled from temple to temple stopping along the way for snacks at various tea rooms where his knowledge continued to be unwavering. We would certainly recommend Grasshopper Adventures for their bike tours, they have guided rides for all standards of fitness and it’s the perfect way to actually understand what your seeing. We very much look forward to our next adventure with their Inle Lake shop next week.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I made plans to arrive in Bagan around noon and wanted to make the most out of my half day, so I booked the Bagan Bike & Boat Sunset Tour. Unfortunately there was no one else signed up for the tour, but Thwe Thwe and Steve were very accommodating and willing to run the tour privately for me for a small supplementary fee. I thought about cancelling but in retrospect am very glad I didn't as this was a perfect way to really learn about Bagan and Myanmar's culture and history in an authentic way.
My guide was Chit and he was very knowledgable about everything that there was to know about Bagan :) First, we visited some local villages to see what daily life is like and learn how local artists make lacquerware. It didn't feel touristy at all since there were no tour groups and other foreigners around, and I didn't feel pressured to buy anything but rather to just listen and learn. The benefit of doing this tour on bikes is that you go on smaller dirt roads and visit less well-known places for a more authentic experience in Bagan. Afterwards, Chit took me to several different religious monuments (there are more than just temples!) and explained the architecture of each type. Since it was a private tour, we were able to add Dhammayangyi and Ananda to the itinerary. I think it was way more insightful to visit these places with a knowledgable guide than by myself as I wouldn't have learned so much about the history and culture of these places otherwise. We also had a short stop along the way to get some cold drinks before continuing on the rest of the tour. Chit showed me a good mound to watch the sunrise and sunset from (since it is officially prohibited for anyone to climb religious monuments in Bagan starting in 2018) and also pointed out on a map the temples and pagodas of interest that I should visit during my time in Bagan.
In terms of safety, Grasshopper does a great job of ensuring that the tours are not only fun but safe. The bikes are well-built and you can do a test ride near the office to see if you need to switch your bike for any reason. A helmet is provided as well of course. Chit always led the way and we never had any issues with traffic.
After the bike ride (which can be quite dusty), we stopped by the Irrawaddy River to catch our private boat. Cold drinks and some food was served. The sunset was beautiful to watch from the river and made for a beautiful ending to a great day!
