Hotel Ba Thaung

Nice place to stay. Near to green market, fair rates but to the downtown is about 20 minutes walks

DON’T COME HERE! I booked one night from the 7th to the 8th of December because I was taking the bus from Hsipaw to Monywa and I was told the bus would take around 10 hours (so I’d be arriving to Monywa at around 5-6 in the morning on the 7th). Eventually the bus arrived in Monywa at 01:30 in the morning of the 7th so I had to spend that night. I told them I was going to spend one night in total which I had already paid for but they kept on telling me I had to pay for the first night (making a total of 2 nights paid and 1 night spent). If I cancelled through Agoda I wouldn’t get any money back but they already had my money from Agoda. Regardless of my explanations (to recepcionist and manager) they asked me to pay for 2 nights. Manager’s behaviour was horrendous. She didn’t speak any English whatsoever and she was using the people around her to protect herself. The worst however had not come yet. I got to a room where there were 5 locals sleeping. Locals who woke up at 4 in the morning because they needed to leave at 5 and made all the noise they could. The worst part was the mattress. Never in my life had I slept in something like that. Do you know the place where fakirs sleep? That would have been heaven. The mattresses (all of them) were so used that you would get the springs nailed to your whole body regarding of your position. At 8 in the morning, after not having been able to catch any sleep, I realised that there was a new (non-used yet) mattress below the fakir one. The same was true for all beds!! They have good mattresses but they keep them hidden so you get hurt yourself using the other ones. Next morning I got the manager coming to check it out and to my surprise the only thing she was capable of doing was to just laugh about it. Please, make the world and yourself a favour and don’t ever come here!

Clean place, very friendly staff. Manager is a little bit too anxious about being helpful and thus is annoying. WiFi is dead, use mobile internet. Hot water in the shower is limited by weird heater system (you need to wait until all the water tank is heated). I think installing one of those little heaters that heat water as it flows would be great...

If you have many stress, you should go in this place. You can sing and drink whole night.

Basic hotel but you don't really need more, everything was clean,just a dead grasshopper next to the toilet , breakfast was ok many option, staff was really polite and friendly, you can buy bus ticket there and also you can rent a motorbike to see all around. The only thing is maybe the price is quite expensive for the quality.

Good hotel. Clean rooms good view. Had a mini refrigerator. Was easy to get around from this spot. Comfortable bed with clean linen. Very nice staff who were polite and willing to help. Not everyone spoke English but could communicate what i need easily. Overall a very comfortable place without expecting too much

Beautiful place and wonderful staff! Breakfast is a must to try with egg and pancake station! The rooftop has a nice view from the city and it does have free bicycles!!!! The rooms are big and comfortable! Toilet is clean and super spacious! We loved it ! Plus they sell bus ticket which is very reliable and same price as in the bus station.

Very dirty hotel, no cleaning and conservancy. Though nice view , no maintenance, even pigeons has created so much filth so much mosquitoes. Even they do not provide mosquitoes repellant. One must avoid in staying such hotels.ir was worst ever experience
