Fort Min Hla and Fort Kway Chaung: Two late Konbaung era forts built to resist a British invasion. One is Fort Minhla, situated inside the town of Minhla. Fort Kway Chaung is located at opposite bank of Irrawaddy river.

Kway Chaung Fort, it’s situated on Kway Chaung Village which is the Western bank of ayeyawady river from Min Hla Town Magway Region. This is one of the defensive zone of Last Dynasty of Kon Baung. During the 1858s, Upper Myanmar was under the ruling of Myanmar King MinDon and Lower Myanmar was under the ruling of British Government. So, Myanmar King MinDon’s Little Brother Ka Naung Prince was got an idea to build defensive Zone around the Ayeyawady River Side to protect of British Army Marching.So, The Prince was contacted to the Italy Engineer Konmoto Pari to Build 5 Fortress around the river. No.1 Fortress is Kway Chaung Fort,No.2 Min Hla Fortress, No 3, Sin Kyone Fort (Ava),No 4 Ah Say Khan Fortress( Sagaing),No.5 ThaPyayTan Fotress(Amarapura). Kway Chaung Fotress is situated on very good location and nice views.If u visit there, u can explore river view and good architecture of Fortress. Direction - To visit there,The best and easy way is Min Hla Town, after visiting Min Hla Fortress,U can hire a small boat to cross the river. Total Duration boat ride time 1hrs. U if u choose the Car,Bus. Totally duration is almost 2:30hrs.
