★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Centuries old famous pagoda in Kyaikkhami near Set Sae Beach. Very famous for the locals and can be overcrowding during the festival and holidays. Estimate 2 hour driving distant from Mawlamyine and you have to turn right on Theinbyzayat where memorial war cemetery located.

It is one of the most famous pagodas in Myanmar because the shrine is never drowned even during the highest tide though it is situated in the sea.
Ladies are not allowed to go up the upper shrine according to the Myanmar traditional respect to the Buddha but can worship from the lower pavilion.
There you can feed the big fishes around the pagoda. During the holidays and the festival times it is overcrowded with local visitors.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ More than the attraction of the Buddhist Pagoda is the sea interface and the breeze that makes one to remain in the spot for longer time than planned. Children enjoy taking photos of both the pagoda back ground as well as the sea background especially when the birds come around in clusters if you are lucky to view them especially when they are fed with the grains or crumbs.
It will be a pleasant experience to walk through the walkway corridor leading to the sea.
In the main Buddha Shrine ladies are allowed to view from the outer place while the tents are allowed to enter inside.
There is a museum of a collection of the historical events of Buddha depicted in images ... and we need plenty of time to really enjoy them.
The beach below is rugged that is not advisable to enter in a swampy and rugged terrain even for adventurous children because in high tide time the rocks will be invisible as also more muddy than sandy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kyaikkhami Yele Pagoda is one of the famous pagoda of Myanmar and it's unique feature is constructed on the sea using the natural foundation of it's ocean reefs and rocky beach in Mon State. It is known that even during the rainy season the sea water never passes base of the pagoda platform. And also that town is the mean sea level of Myanmar. Very nice and peaceful!
