★ ★ ★ ★ ★ မဟာထီးဟူသည် မဟာထေရ် ဟူသော ဝေါဟာရ မှဆင်းသက်လာသည်။ မဟာထေရ်ဟူသည် ကြီးမြတ် သောရဟန်းဟု အနက်ရှိကာ မြတ်စွာဘုရားကို ရည်ညွန်းသည်။ မဟာထီးဘုရားသည် ပုရိန် မြို့ဟောင်း အနောက်တောင် ၃မိုင်ခန့် အကွာ မြောက်ဦးမြို့ တောင်ဘက် ၇မိုင်ခန့် အကွာတွင်တည်ရှိသည်။ မဟာသက္ကရာဇ် ၁၂၃ ခု တွင် မြတ်စွာဘုရားသည် နောက်ပါရဟန်းအပါး ၅၀၀ ဖြင် ဓည၀တီနေပြည်တော်သို့ ကြွရောက်လာရာ သောလဂီရိကျောက်တော်တောင်၌ တထောက်ရပ်နားကာ နောင်သောအခါ ဓါတ်တော်များကိုဌာပနာကာ စေတီတည်ကြမည်အကြောင်းမိန့်ကြားလေသည်။ စုစုပေါင်း ၂၄၈ ရှိသည့်အနက် မဟာထီးဘုရားလည်းပါ၀င်ပါသည်။ မြတ်စွာဘုရား ဗျာဒိတ်တော်အရ သက္ကရာဇ် ၄၈၈ ခု ခရစ် ၁၁၂၃ တွင် စန္ဒပဗ္ဗတတောင်ကုန်းတွင် ပုရိန်ပြည့်ရှင် ကောလိယမင်းသည် မဟာထီးဘုရား တည်ထားကိုးကွယ်ခဲ့သည်။ ကောလိယမင်းသည် ထိုဒေသရ ကျောက်တုံးကို ဘုရားနှင့် ထီး ထုဆစ်ကာ ကျောက်ဂူကြီးအတွင်း ကျောက်ထီးကြီး မိုးကာ ကိုးကွယ်ခဲ့သည်။ အင်္ဂလိပ် မြန်မာ ပထမစစ်တွင် ရခိုင် ဒေသ ၌ တိုက်ပွဲဖြစ်ပွားကြရာ မြန်မာစစ်သည်များသည် မဟာထီးဘုရား ဂူတော်ထဲ ဝင်၍ခုခံကြသဖြင့် အင်္ဂလိပ် စစ်ဗိုလ် ဘော်ရော် ကအမြှောက်နှင့်ပစ်ရာ ဂူတော်တစ်ခုလုံးပြိုကျပြီး ဆင်းတုတော်လည်း တစ်စစီ ဖြစ်သွားလေသည်။ မဟာထီးဘုရားဝန်းကျင်မှ ရွာသား များသည် ပျက်စီးသွားသော ဆင်းတု အစိတ်အပိုင်းများ ပြန်လည်ရှာကာပေါင်းစပ်ပြုပြင်ခဲ့ကြသော်လည်း အပြည့်အစုံမွေ့တသဖြင့်လိုအပ်သည့်နေရာတွင် အုတ် အင်္ဂတေ ဖြင့်အစားထိုးခဲ့ရသည်။ ဂူတော်ကိုလည်း မူလအတိုင်းမပြုလုပ်နိုင်တော့ဘဲ အောက်ခြေလေးထောင့်ကျောင်းတွင် ထုချွန်ပုံ စေတီတည်ခဲ့ကြသည်။စေတီအရှေ့ဘက်တွင် သိမ်တော်ရှိသည်။ ကုန်းတော်သို့ တက်ရန် ဘုရင်တက်လမ်းနှင့် မိဖုရားတက်လမ်းဟူ၍ လမ်းနှစ်ခုရှိသည်
 Maha Htee is derived from the word Maha Htar. Mahadhar means great monk and refers to the Blessed One. Maha Htee Pagoda is located about 3 miles southwest of the old town of Purin, about 7 miles south of Mrauk-U. In 123 A.D., the Blessed One, accompanied by 500 other monks, came to Nay Pyi Taw, stopped on the hill of Thalagiri, and later erected a pagoda to enshrine the elements. Of the total 248, Maha Htee Pagoda is also included. According to the revelation of the Buddha, in 1123 A.D. 1123, King Koliya, the Purin king, erected a pagoda on the hill of Sandapabbata and worshiped it. During the First Anglo-Burmese War, fighting broke out in Rakhine State, and Burmese soldiers entered and resisted the Great Umbrella Pagoda. Villagers around the Maha Htee Pagoda recovered and repaired the damaged statues, but were completely replaced by bricks and mortar where needed. The tomb could not be restored to its original position, and a pointed pagoda was erected at the base of the lower quadrant. There are two roads to ascend the hill: King Tat Road and Queen Tat Road
