★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The ticket booth is located on the east moat gate Travellers would like to visit Mandalay Palace have to buy the ticket here and enter from the east gate to the palace. It is a combination ticket covers Mandalay palace, main sights at Inwa, Shwenandaw Kyaung and some other places. Ticket fee 10000kyat, valid for 5 days. Traveller can take a car directly to Mandalay Palace entrance after purchasing ticket. Otherwise, it take about 10 mimutes by foot from east moat gate to palace entrance. Tuk tuk is not likely to be allowed to go in to the palace entrance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the only entrance to the walled city that foreigners are allowed to use.
It’s a bizarre process, most of the walled city is off limits to tourists, but you walk down the main road to the palace and walk back the same way.
In order to enter, bring your passport, 10,000 MMK for the ticket. (Your ticket will get you into other places around Mandalay for free). You’ll need to leave your passport and you’ll be given a badge to wear.
The whole process feels unwelcoming and utterly bizarre for a tourist attraction, but the guards are nice and friendly.
Just a note, don’t try the other entrances, you will be turned away and sent here.
