★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place gets the job done. It looks like third world chaos and might freak you out depending on your experience. Arrive on your own and report to the corner building on the left to check in and pay. You need a passport. This place is soo poor.. don't be those entitled clueless tourist who show up in their expensive car taxis and get a personal boat to Mingun.. the tourist ferry is the exact same type of boat and just as fast.. not crowded at all when we went (July).. 8 of us on the ferry. Leaves pier at 9:00 or 9:30 and returns at 12 or 12:30.. more than enough time to experience Mingun

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We missed the government boat and instead opted to rent a boat which left immediately. They even stored our scooter at the dock.
We paid 35,000 (didn't try haggling though I'm sure you can get it cheaper) for a laughably large boat (really too large for just 2 passengers) but we had a pleasant experience. It was a return trip and the boat waited for us in Mingun while we looked around for a couple of hours.
Boarding the boat may be a bit precarious for older people. You have to walk a thin plank to get aboard so there's a slight risk of falling into the water.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You can barely call this place a harbour, but if you need a trip on the river you has to pass the mud on the river bank and balance the gangway plank. Quite an experience

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The two storeys small building by a side road near jetty is ticket counter. Open at 8:30. But around 8:15, the counter attendant lady accept issuing ticket to customer. MMK 5000.- for return ticket. Bring your passport for recordimg.
1hr boat trip
The ticket counter building has toilet on 2nd floor.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The mingun jetty transport is the most ideal and quickest and easiest and cheapestway(5000kyats) to get to mingun and back though getting into the ferry boat is a little bit tricky where you have to cross several boats before you get into your ferry boat

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Come here to visit the white Hsinbyume Pagoda and the Mingun pahtodawgyi get here before 9am and pay 5000pp and then 5000pp when you arrive. Good value and the boat trip is nice and relaxing !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To get to Mingun (with private boat) go to the small office which just between the road and the river. Ask anyone there for Thin Win Boat company and they will find the guy responsible to help you. They will provide you with a huge boat and take you to Mingun and wait for you for around 2 hours for 30,000 (without negotiation). Was a great day out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An interesting boat ride from this small little jetty at Mandalay to Mingun at the opposite. Get/pay the ticket from the small office and board the boat later. There are no proper facilities, no concrete paths or steps leading to the waiting boat but just, the sandy/muddy beach and walking up along some planks to the boat. A great experience and with lots of fun too.
