The Myazedi pagoda is a golden stupa sitting on a number of elusive steps.
Along the stairs that lead to the temple grounds are two large mythological lions often found guarding the Burmese temples.
The great golden stupa is surmounted by a multi-layered ornamental spire called hti. The outer wall of the first level contains small ornamental niches surmounted by a golden spire in which small images of the Buddha are set. The corners of the first and third levels are adorned with small ornamental spiers, the corners of the second level contain statues of lions.
The famous Myazedi stone inscription that was discovered here is displayed in a small building near the pagoda
A large four-sided stone is inscribed in four languages, the ancient Pali, the Mon, the old Burmese and the Pyu. Each side contains the same text in a different language, which allowed archaeologists to decipher the previously unknown Pyu language.
