★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great place for someone who wishes to get engrossed into meditative regimen. Living among monks and keeping up with a strict daily schedule that starts at 3.30 am and finishes at circa 8pm, this place can contribute a lot to one's meditation skills. Those who wish to follow the local school of meditation will have to learn how to focus on the conceptual breath when doing anapanasati. This is a quite peculiar approach and not an easy one to comprehend. However, when fully understood, in my view, this is the best approach for developing samahdi through breath. It conducive to entering all jahnas through breathing. However, it requires a lot of practice. The logistics are great. 2 full meals before noon and fasting afterwards until 6 am the next day. Accommodation are good, however, one must acknowledge that unless they get their own kuti, it is going to be a dormitory type, with two beds in each room, which might be not very good for keeping silence. Other than that no particular chores are required to be performed from laymen yogis. I have stayed there for a month and I loved the experience. Please also mind the season of your extended stay. It might get too hot which is detrimental to meditative experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time doing a retreat at a full fledged meditation center. Many many nuns and monks from other Asian countries, and a few from Western countries. Many lay Burmese and few foreign lay women. More foreign lay men. Can stay min 3 days and the up to however many years you want. Was given a kuti for females. Apparently males have very updated facility... Bed is typical wooden bed with straw mat and barely there padding. Hurt my tail bone and hips quite a bit. Can be very cold. Utensils are all provided. Best to be prepared if staying for a long time. Mediation hall is very big and you have to deal with lots of farting and burping, but there are ample cushions and mosquito netting for use. Very well equipped and very competent staff. Was able to show up. Donations are very much appreciated!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm not sure what the original master plan was, or maybe that the numbers are now exceeding expectations, but given that there is 500 + acres it seems strange that there is congestion building up. Being able to do basic things like perform ordinations, run meditation retreats, and provide merit making opportunities for laypeople are fairly standard for any monastery. But a we'll thought out forest monastery where there is good Dhamma-vinaya requires some indespensable things such as 'caṅkman' paths, individual dwellings, spacing, regular ovada(s), sutta recitation, etc. This tradition emphasis using a book called the 'Visuddhi-magga,' which isn't necessarily wrong but you can see how emphasising something like a 'nimitta' rather than 'akusala dhammā' doesn't end up hitting the spot.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There is many foreigners come and practice meditation. If you stay here long time( more than a month ) you may have kuti (hut) for yourself. We have two meals a day breakfast and lunch. An interview with meditation teacher at 9am everyday . And dharma talk one a week at 6pm every Sunday. If you want to become a monk, it easy. First you have six months as a novice and then you will become a monk.
It perfect for you to stay here long time, if you are a vegetarian. All the foods here are vegetables. And if you are a fan of trekking, you can discover around mountains and village all time except rain season.
There is one problem in here that many bugs bed in kuti or in meditation hall. You may bring your blanket and pillow if you want sleepy well.
