Currently the best option in Bhamo. There are two other options, most notably the famous Friendship Hotel. I looked at all three places before choosing Paradise. Pros: Clean rooms. The sheets were clean and fresh. The floor didn't leave your feet black after walking on it. The bathroom was squeaky clean, even the upper reaches of the wall. The room had a heavy air freshener smell, but that was cared for by opening the windows a few minutes. The bed was soft, the blankets and sheets didn't feel worn. The towels were ok, the weren't new and fluffy but they were clean. The usual bathroom amenities are provided. Staff were happy to help with requests for more coat hangers, and changed the sheets whenever we asked during our extended stay. Cons: As usual, you'll pay more if you're a foreigner. In this case, you'll pay almost double the local rate. The other hotels are even worse. Friendship quoted 18,000MMK for a local and 50,000MMK for a foreigner. Here the rate was 25USD for a foreigner. You will have to ask for linen changes, but it is done willingly. Tip: get a room on the side away from the school. Students in Myanmar are taught by memorization, and this takes the form of "yell after the teacher". They can be up quite late too. Breakfast is served in the Paradise Cafe (good for lunch/dinner!)next door. It's buffet style, and it is typical Myanmar hotel breakfast fare. Fried everything, in large quantities, washed down with instant coffee or artificial juice. But you can make a meal of the fried eggs and toast. Unfortunately, you can't order an espresso in the mornings, you have to wait until the cafe opens for lunch. Overall, this is both the cleanest and cheapest hotel in Bhamo (as of May 2017), which is a surprising combination. Anywhere else is just wasting money for a lower standard.
