★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When taking a cruise on Inle lake, this is your second stop after the silversmith workshop. You can see ladies with long necks and rings working on textiles and buy silver jewelry. The place is charming and I got a few great pictures. They also make umbrellas here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ By sheer coincidence, our timing was perfect .. we arrived at Inle Lake just in time for the biggest festival, Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival .. a major annual evt tt is celebrated by all the villages tt surround Lake Inle .. ard end Sept-early Oct .. the experience was phenomenal .. unforgettable ..
It is a religious pilgrimage of the 4 Buddha's images, placed on a decorated royal barge, towed by leg-rowers .. spans 18days, w 18 stop-overs at villages ard the lake .. as the royal barge lvs each village, a "representative boat" joins the pilgrimage .. decked out w young men, rowing & chanting .. we witnessed their journey at the 13th stop, and the sight of the 13 long village boats towing the royal barge was truly breathtaking .. surrounded by hundreds of other boats ..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice monastery close to the padaung village and the weekly market. It has a large number of gilded stupas that make it very unique and definitely worth a visit. The weekly market that is close by is an excellent choice to indulge in some local cuisine at a reasonable price.
