If you are not a religious person, the place is just boring to go there.. just stupas, pagoda and people who always in a hurry to go into the cave.. but you will see beautiful big trees and view when you are on the way to htan san cave.

All that glitters IS gold!! I would have to say that this is the best "attraction" visited so far in Myanmar. Very interesting and fun to visit. Out of the sun, and without a single postcard salesperson in sight ? Easy to spend an hour or more here. Watch out for the spiders!!

The Pindaya Caves (Burmese: ပင်းတယရွှေဥမင်, pronounced [pɪ́ɴdəja̰ ʃwè ṵmɪ̀ɴ]; officially ပင်းတယရွှေဥမင်သဘာဝလိုဏ်ဂူဘုရား), located next to the town of Pindaya, Shan State, Burma (Myanmar) are a Buddhist pilgrimage site and a tourist attraction located on a limestone ridge in the Myelat region. There are three caves on the ridge which runs north-south, but only the southern cave can be entered and explored. It is not known whether the other two penetrate for any extended distance into the hillside.

If you drive here, you'll park in front of the usual souvenir stalls and then walk a bit the actual pagoda area where either more stairs or an elevator can take you to the cave entrance. Be sure to get your photo taken with the giant archer and spider statues that reference the history of the word "Pindaya." Basically, legend has it a spider had kidnapped a Princess and a Prince came and killed the spider with a bow and arrow. After killing it he said something like "I have taken the spider" which is the rough translation of Pindaya. Anyway, the cave is moderately-sized, but is crammed full of Buddha statues.
