★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As with all my favourite bars, we initially thought we were going to get stabbed as we approached the Pirate, but ended up sharing high-fives with the locals on the dance floor. Wanted rock, got reggaeton, didn't care. Toilets were surprisingly clean.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a narrow space but the outdoor seating's available. Has two stories inside but with loud music, people like me can't enjoy. Burgers and fast food-like are good. Has two latrines and happy hours!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pirate Bar is located in the same alleyway as the famous 7th Joint Bar and is located a stones throw from other nightlife hotspots. Despite living in Yangon for quite some time I have only visited Pirate for the first time on Saturday night. The reason for this is that Pirate Bar is too innocuous. This is reflected in the lack of customer density inside and the bar is often very quiet and was even so on a Saturday night.
If I was the manager of Pirate Bar I would definitely put some neon signs outside and at Maha Bandula road. All too often people would skip by and not even realise it is a separate bar to 7th Joint. As such, Pirate Bar could be more aggressive in advertising and establishing itself - I am not even aware if there are any special events or happy hour here.
The layout inside was pretty cool and had some sailor/pirate items like hooks and nets hanging from the ceiling. There was a DJ and the music was exceptional and he was very welcome to song requests.
The bar was small but there was an abundance of seats and tables available upstairs and downstairs. There is also an option to sit outside.
Tiger draft was MMK2.500, MMK500 more expensive than its neighbour 7th Joint.
What I really enjoyed about Pirate was that it closed at 2:00am, I know only of a handful of bars in Yangon that open this late.
Finally, the staff were very friendly and I had a great night drinking, dancing and enjoying the music. I will definitely return.
Concluding thoughts: the late opening hours is certainly a distinct advantage with Pirate Bar. As such, it is certainly a great place to end a night out.
