★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This seems like a new orphanage near Taunggyi, run by a young monk and is home for 80 children, the youngest one is just 1 yo. There are only 2 dormitories built in tin houses, 1 for girls and 1 for boys, all sleep in on the floor with thin bed sheet, with only 2 toilets for all children. We saw few volunteers from the neighbor helping in the kitchen and looking after the children but none of them is full-time and of cause none have had proper childcare training. Although people come to donate foods and stuff but the infrastructure of this orphanage need to be improved. If you ever in the region, and if you work in construction or an architect (?) or have the resources and ability to help build new buildings for them, please do.
As this was a short visit, we didn’t have much time to learn more about this place from the monk, the above information shared was what I’ve learned from a short conversation.
