★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Next to Payathonzu is Thambula temple (Nr 482). This later style temple is a square single-storey with porches on all four sides, and with receding terraces and a curvilinear spire above. On the hall front pediments the original stucco remains well preserved. Inside the circumambulatory corridor, well lit by two high arched entrances, runs round the central block with the four Buddha statues.The interios walls are adorned with Chinese-influenced frescoes and mural writings.
