★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highest Pagoda among the others with beautiful structure. Height of just over 60 meters, the Thatbyinnyu Pagoda is one of the highest monuments of Bagan. The majestic pagoda, towering above other nearby temples and pagodas is visible from much of the Bagan plains.
After the single story pagodas built during the early period like the Shwezigon pagoda, the Thatbyinnyu is one of the first two storey structures built in Bagan. Due to the big earthquack in September 08 last year, this pagoda is rather damage and try to repair/ construction with modern engineering technique.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bagan's tallest structure amazingly built with whiteish colouration.
As with all temples shoes need to be removed. Inside the images of Buddah are wonderful.
There are also horses and carts available for rides around the area. There are a few market stalls outside offering all sorts of souvenirs.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the big pagodas at Bagan. Superb architecture, and layout. You have to park or get dropped off at the gate, about 100 m walk then to the pagoda. Some shops around for water and souvenirs, and ice cream. The pagoda needs a bit of renovation - the guide told us they paint it after monsoon, so October onward it would look great. We went in July, when it looked possibly the most run-down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sometimes I wonder how I prefer to see an old temple. Would I want it to be left in a decaying state or would I want to see it restored to its original glory? That's exactly the feeling that I had when I visited Thatbyinnyu Phaya, which was originally built 900 years ago. The structure is in good shape but the whitewash is very dirty since the temple has not been painted in years. A fresh coat of whitewash will resolve the dilemma, but will it destroy the current look and feel of the temple?

Consider as one of most important and iconic landmark in this area.
It was built at 12th century and its the highest Pagoda comparing with others about 61 m tall.
It's close also to the famous Ananda Pagoda.
There is alot of shops around specially for food and most important ice cream.
It's also a large temple and have a good space you can discover and hanging around.
