★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Staff from this station couldn't be less professional. I wanted to take a train from Thazi to Kalaw and I first asked in Mandalay Station. There nobody knows about the Thazi trains timetables.
So I went straight to Thazi and once there I asked for information for the first train to Kalaw. The first employee I found told me it will be at 7am.
Then an other one told me at 3am, but that I should be at the station at 1.30am. None of them told me the truth. The train was at 5am and didn't start before 5.45am!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The life of this station is over 118 years and the most important core railway lines connecting to multiple directions of Myanmar (Yangon/Mandalay/MyinGyan) and eastern shan state(ShweNyaung) and Kayah state (Loikaw).If you would like to travel to Taunggyi and MyinGyan, just grab up a 9up from Yangon then watched out for your destinations. while you arrived to there about 4:00am,It keep resting and shanting for at least 2 hours for checked locomotive health status.Normally MyinGyan transit train leaves around 6:00am.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very busy old and basically run down rail station but serves its purpose. If arriving from Shwenyaung or Kalaw you will see the locals crossing the tracks and climbing through freight cars etc to take the short cut out. However if you prefer the safer option you will find a stairway and bridge at the end of the platform. Then beware the taxis and horse carts waiting for you. Typically over priced rides when you are about 650 mtrs from both guesthouses Moonlight and Wonderful. The road and paths can be rough, but not a too hard walk. Maybe more difficult if you have a case with small wheels.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Railway junction when travelling to or from Inle lake. Nothing special but they do have a rest room for tourists where you can have some privacy and sleep a few hours in between trains. It is only some dated armchairs and couch but better then wooden benches on the station. They also have a station for filling up mobile phones but if you ask staff at the counter they will gladly take your phone and plug it in at their office, better than constantly watching it at filling station. On the platform there are also some stalls selling local food for 500 kyats(curries, soups) and it is actually tasty.
