Lors de mon dernier passage dans le village de Salay, je suis retournée manger au Stamp, l'accueil est toujours aussi chaleureux et la nourriture aussi bonne. Cette fois si, j'en ai appris un peu plus sur l'histoire de cet établissement, la longue rénovation de l'ancienne poste et sur les autres projets en cours pour sauvegarder le patrimoine architecturale de Salay. Allez au stamp et allez à Salay

Very Delicious food for lunch and Dinner . Excellent service and Excellent meals.

We spent 2 days in Sa Lé on a family / friends trip. We took all our meals in The Stamp Restaurant, a charming colonial house beautifully restored, in the center of the village. As a hotelier myself, I asked to have a look at the kitchen. I certainly didn't expect that level of professionalism in such a small and relatively unknown village! The tiled fllor and wall are spotless. Every pieces of furniture and equipment, from the freezers and double door fridge to the tables and the sinks are in stainless steel and perfectly maintained. The cook herself showed me around, in white professional attire. From her good broad smile I could say that the food would not only be safe but savourous. And was I right! We tried both the set menu (5000 Kyat!!) and A la carte, it's simple but inventive, local without that fishy over oily spiciness you find too often here, perfectly suitable for westerners' palates. Two thumbs up, The Stamp! I will recommend you everywhere.

A great lunch in this fascinating building. This was Salay's post office during the colonial times. It has been saved from collapsing and rebuilt in its original shape and spirit. You can still see the teak posts inside, the original windows, and doors. It's worth a visit and a meal if you walk in Salay as it is one of the last colonial buildings still intact.

Set in Salay's old post office, this building has been tastefully renovated into a restaurant. The food was excellent. I had the Laab Pla - a fresh white fish salad made with onion, plenty of lime, mint and other fresh herbs. ( The fish was catfish I believe as the full name of the dish in Thai is Laab Pla Duk). We also tried the "Burmese Dakatine" which is a traditional peanut dip/paste (served warm) which was accompanied by tempura vegetables. We spoke to the owners at length who were incredibly friendly and really made our visit memorable. They speak very good english and even better French. Although the fact that Salay is not really on the tourist trail adds to the charm of the town, this means that the restaurant has very few visitors which is a real shame given how beautiful the building is as well as how friendly the owners are. I really do wish the owners every success and would say this is a must visit if you're in Salay - even if you only stop by for a drink and to look at the beautiful architecture.
