This is the place where the Treaty of Yandabo was signed on 24 Feb, 1826 to end the First Anglo-Burmese War. The British gained control of North-East India and parts of Burma after this treaty. There is a memorial of this treaty by the river bank.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A rural riverside village that specialises is clay pot manufacturing. It was a stop on the Mandalay to Bagan boat trip. Interesting demonstration of making and decoration a clay pot, still with traditional manual means. A short walk to meet the villagers and see the curios on sale.
