I would hereby share my experience of making a “local quality” slim fit 2 piece suit with Yangon Custom Tailor. I went to this shop due to some positive comments and reviews written about them, and I had made a 2 button suit with them. They had 2 qualities of workmanship, one is what they call the “local quality” and the other is called the “premium”, the price difference is about 300USD. This tailor had seemed very meticulous and detailed when taking measurements and recommending the various fabrics that they carry. After taking the measurements and putting a 50% deposit with them, I was left to wait for the suit to be done. It took various calls to check with them along with a 3 weeks waiting time before the suit was ready to be collected. During the collection, I tried on the suit and the tailor kept repeating that it looked great on me. It was my mistake to trust his “professional” opinion, I took the suit and attended a wedding overseas. It was then that I had realised that the jacket had a loose fitting when I had made a slim fit suit. Subsequently, I went back to the shop to ask for an adjustment of the fitting. The tailor said that I would have to pay 11,000MMK for the alteration because I did not go back within 2 weeks of the suit collection. I had to pay the fee even though I had explained that I had used the suit for an event overseas and was not back in Yangon within the 2 weeks grace period. I went back to the shop after 4 weeks, attended by the two sisters of the tailor, I tried on the altered jacket. It had a deep crease along with the lapels, a V-shaped opening below the top button instead of a straight opening and I was not able to raise my arms forward beyond a 45 degrees angle (try to straighten both arms pointing to your toes and raise them up to your shoulder level). With this, one of the sisters said that the jacket looks perfect on me and brushed away my comments on the flaws of this alteration. The other sister said that I could leave the jacket with them again for 5 days for further adjustments. I asked if this second adjustment could guarantee that they would resolve these issues, the answer given was a NO. So with a disagreements of standards, the sister asked that I spoke to the tailor through the phone. I told him that I could not agree with the conversation and proposals made by the sisters. He went on to say that he did the adjustments according to my specifications and it is my undoing by not stating the flaws during the collection and the 2 weeks grace period. I could not believe that he actually blamed it on me, he had actually retaken the measurements when I had asked for my jacket to be altered. Had I known what the dimensions are needed for making a good suit, I would have been a craftsman myself. In conclusion, I think that this tailor has no pride in his work, he was trained in Bangkok and, unfortunately, he had failed to bring the craftsmanship and service excellence back from his training. **This is an account of my experience, I will leave it up to you to decide on their level of responsibility and whether you want to be their next customer.**

I have had a dinner jacket made (tuxedo). It is not really bespoke - it is more an made to measure offer. The premium offer is satisfactory, the choice of fabrics is wide, and the finished product is really good for that price - the standard line is a bit more limited. Two caveats: First, the 'in-house/default' style is very trendy (small lapels, high gorge, short cut) and you need to give a wealth of details to get something more classic - which basically means that you need to go for the premium line to get anything decent. But once you explain what you want, the salesman will be happy to accommodate you. Second, they cut VERY close to the body. I received plenty of compliments from folks while wearing the final product, it looks very rich and good. Highly recommended overall if you happen to be in Yangon and have a couple of bucks to spare.

I've had them make several items for me (suit jackets, trousers, and shirts) and have been very happy. They are very honest and upfront about what they can and cannot do and were happy to work with me each time. I also thought their pricing was very fair (a little more expensive than Mantops for example - approximately 3000MMK more for a shirt - but much better quality). They have a good selection of fabric, but will also make things from fabric I brought it, which was very nice. Each time I came in, I gave them a sample to use, but they also took measurements to be sure. Each piece they did was excellent and I was very impressed with the attention to detail.

My first experience of buying a custom made suit and they made it incredible. Even I am not knowing exactly what style and color that I am looking for, they took the time to understand what I wanted, offered their opinion and expert view and ensured that what they created was exactly what I was looking for. The resultant suit was just outstanding and I really enjoyed wearing it and I am sure that I am going to buy more suits from them. Thank you so much Yangon professional custom tailor, I am really appreciated it.

I don't have extensive experience in getting suit made by the tailor, but I'm quite please with the service here. Time to delivery was also quite fast, around a week. Friendly and welcoming overall, willing to accommodate your own requests. Thanks!

Rude, horrific, terrible customer service. I saw the Google reviews and had high expectations but I was so very wrong for having had such high expectations. I initially told the staff that I plan to tailor a total of 10 shirts and 10 pants if the fitting is good. After the several fitting sessions (due to fit issues and adding designs that I did not want eg. shirt pocket and belt loop for pants), I eventually decided not to tailor more sets (just a single shirt and a pair of pants). Upon making my decision, the male staff rudely said "If you like my service, come back for more if not then don't.No problem, even if we don't have your order, we have many other customers and can survive easily. We even have customers who come back 5 years later to tailor with us. Burmese people are always like this, they want a better price so they mention that they will tailor more at the start then end up not tailoring more." Crazy to me that the staff is openly mocking his clients face to face and expects clients to want to tailor more with him. Please do something about your customer service for your own sake.
