★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely small Burmese food restaurant truly existing for local people. One staff member spoke English when I came in and said "only Burmese food" as if that were a bad thing!
I ordered egg curry which consisted of 1.5 hard-boiled eggs in a tasty red sauce. For 2000kyat, my dish included sides and rice. They also offered chicken, beef, mutton, and fish curry- the price is the same (2000kyat). They also have dried fish. The curries comes with a small portion of rice. Additional rice is the normal 500kyat. They have bottled sodas, energy drinks, and water. No alcohol is served. You can bring beer from a store if you like (I asked).
Burmese food can be quite oily, and meat dishes often have bones and/or fatty pieces of meat. I enjoyed this simple place just to get away from the throngs of tourists.
