★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What was wrong? I handle a lot, but here was just crazy place!! I was in many hostels, but this one..Stuff wasnt considerate at all we were there for them not they for us:-D! They dont care if its midnight or 5am, some of them were play very loudly games on mobile phone - sorry but why dont you take headphones? And maybe I was unlucky, but also people who were there with us as hosts at that time were crazy!!! Loudly all night all day, I just dont understand. And the breakfast??? Come on, better will be dont offer it. Just toast and margarine. For that money horrible place! I was there for 3days and after this circus I moved to better hostel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pros: good location, close to sule pagoda and market/mall. Private pods are pretty spacious. Shampoo, soap and towels provided. Nice, helpful staff with helping to carry big bags (works in the morning)
Cons: Noise. Not from outside. Despite signs on the walls asking people to be quiet after 10pm, a guest was facetiming until 3 am on loudspeaker next to reception which glared into my bed. Rather than the staff telling them to be quiet, staff played shooting games loudly, again on their phones.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hotel Latha is located in a street of the same name in Yangon. This place is reachable by walk in 10 minutes by the Backpackers from the central downtown.(about 10-12 streets across). This area itself is in the downtown.
There are about 20 air-conditioned dormitory beds located at the 3rd floor of an Apartment Building.
This is the cheapest dormitory in the downtown less-than 3 USD in the Water Festival season. The price may be dynamic in off-seasons. I am not sure.
I visited the interior of the Hostel. It is maintained clean. The two tier beds are arranged across the room with safety locker at the base and curtain. No food service is available at room. (Many food shops & restaurant available at arm's distance in ever streets of Yangon downtown)
I noticed only Europeans ( with Budget plans) occupied the dorms.
Pros: cheapest and clean.can be booked on line too. Easily accessable from Railway station >1km.
From Main Market half km.
Cons: one has to climb the steep steps to reach the hostel - no lift.
No problem for backpacker.
Not advisable for Honeymoon couples.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one of the cheapest hostels around. For the price you get a clean hostel, comfortable bed with curtains, powerplugs and lamp. The breakfast is just simple bread. Toilers and showers are decent. Didn't always get a hot shower but in a hot country I don't mind. This is one of the few places where the WiFi always works on my laptop, on the phone it doesn't always work well.
Main disadvantage: beds, reception and common area are in one room so you will wake up when people get up and start to talk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Got everything you need, plugs by besides which work on any adapter,towels come with the bed, breakfast toast and jam tea and coffee self serve in the morning, really friendly staff, can help you with any of your questions, Great location and price.
Recommended it for backpackers,

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This hostel is clean and pretty quiet, well located in the center of the town. However be aware that it is only one long room. As you step in the hostel (after climbing a good set of stairs) you are directly in the room which includes a table at the feet of people's bed and a reception desk where you sleep. The bathroom is another room with 3 showers and toilets so enough for everybody! Overall we had a good stay because we weren't so much in the room and the beds are clean and comfortable! But it is not a place where you should expect to hang out. The breakfast includes coffee and tea and unlimited toasts!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's quite cheap and cool. It's a place to stay and also feel comfortable when you are not buoyant. The hostel mates are friendly although it depends on the kind of persons there at your arrival. But be sure of warm and hospitable reception.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very affordable hostel, located within the downtown area, on the 2nd floor of a building. Their rates per night is incredibly low, and their manager is very friendly and accommodating. Some things I dislike about it is the not so tidy amenities - especially the bed cover and the bathroom area- some mosquitoes visible every night, and the bathroom water heater is not functioning well. However, for a very low rate with free water, tea, coffee and bread for breakfast, it's still a good value for our money. Be careful in climbing the flights of stairs, they're kind of steep and almost straight up.
