Another typical Myanmar town train station. The stuff is really helpful, try their best and speak little English too.

Important things to know: keep your train ticket! They wanted my train ticket at my destination in Pyin Oo Lwin. You'll need your passport or a copy of it to buy a ticket. I asked for a seat on the right side next to the window. Had a Burmese note too. What seat did they give me? An aisle seat on the left. The complete opposite from what I wanted. D and B are aisle seats. A is window on right and C is window on left (in the direction of Hsipaw to Pyin Oo Lwin.) The seats can rotate around to become 4 seaters. I ended up loving my aisle seat for the people watching and scored a right-hand window seat after people vacated. I love the train ride. It's quite rocky and the Europeans' huge backpacking backpacks fall on me after our first turn. One of my favorite parts of my trip so far! You can buy train tickets at the train station an hour before the train leaves (under 3000 kyats) or pay someone to get one for you (12000 kyats -- huge markup!) After getting off at Pyin Oo Lwin, you can take a truck to Mandalay (2000 kyats) or taxi (10000 kyats). Highly recommend the truck! It was a fun ride. Drop off is anywhere along the route. The end point is around 84-9? and 35th. I got off at 77th and 35th.

Lovely train station. Great atmosphere shares by adventurous tourists and locals. We paid a little extra for the Upper class and had ample leg room with fully reclining seats and bag storage. Seating arrangements are 2+1.
