★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mingyi Hill is located at south-west part of Pyay City & abutting Irrawaddy River & Pyay-Yangon Road. Governors & high-ranking government officials of Pyay City resided on this hill since colonial time until 2000’s. Mingyi is derived from the Burmese word “မင်းကြီး” which Burmese people called “Governor” in colonial time. There are still some old colonial villas till now on the hill. It is a beautiful & tranquil place where local people & visitors go for trekking, relaxation & sight-seeing. The Bay Dar Yee Cave from the famous myth of Pyay city is also located in the monastery on the hill.
