Queen Hotel

Rooms are decorated with modern style. Warm and helpful staffs. Buffet breakfast hasn't too much choice but delicious. One of the clean and best hotel at Hpa-An.

A totally underrated place to stay in Hpa an. We only stayed one night but highly recommend. It's located next to the best restaurant (Community Café) we've been in Myanmar so far, has a nice roof terrace and clean, spacious rooms. It takes a few minutes to the city centre but since you need a tuktuk oder motorbike to see the surroundings anyway, that doesn't matter. We stayed in another hotel in Hpa an as well but this one was much better.

Positive + nice and supportive staff + nice view from the roof top + you can rent a scooter Negative - you definetly need the scooter, so it's not really located too good - the first room we got was pretty dirty, full of Flys and Ants - the check out took 45 minutes. First they wanted to charge us a different price than we booked on agoda. The guy at the reception did not know that the scooter was already payed. The boat trip to Mawlamyaing we booked, incl. transport to the Harbour was not organized. We had to pay cash after two different, valid credit cards did not work. At least they said so. So we had to pay cash. The best, they did not even have change money and if we wouldn't had insisted on the change they would have given it to me. - the hotel is less than three years old but is in such a bad condition. - mouse or rat poo in the corridors - pigeons are living in a hole under the roof I would suggest a better cleaning concept and a documentation concept because one hand doesn't know what the other does. I'm really sorry for this bad review, I would have loved to give a better one because of the nice people working there. Good luck for the future!

Good: - The room is big and clean ! - The location and view from the roof is great ! - The breakfast was good ! - They helped us get a shared taxi to the Thai border. But... Not so good: - The staff was inexperienced and not proficient enough in English. Only 1 man spoke English, yet somehow either he didn't explain properly to our driver or the latter didn't understand him but we didn't end up where we were supposed to (twice !). The rest of the staff simply would not understand our simple questions (and we are used to dealing with non-native speakers, being some ourselves) ! - I didn't appreciate that the whole staff was laughing at me when I insisted in translating to our driver, step by step, where we wanted to go next, but I was doing it for a reason (and of course the driver didn't follow those instructions...). Now before I am being accused of neo-colonialism or making a fuss out of a small thing, I do not expect local people in the streets to speak my language, I should learn burmese BUT granted almost all of this hotel clientele is foreign, I believe they should staff the reception with people who can converse in English... When a "small misunderstanding" delays everything and ruins your sunset, you aren't always very happy :/ - Only 2 electric sockets in the whole room, and the fridge takes 1... - The location is great if you want a quiet spot, but far from the restaurants and retail places... - While the rooms themselves are clean, other locations (like the staircase) could benefit from a deep cleaning (sweeping the floor would be a good start but is not enough...).

TripAdvisor Queen Hotel HPa An It is a clean, modern hotel with friendly staff who will always greet you when they see you. The breakfast is good and plentiful: fried egg, toast, fried rice or noodle, fruit, tea. As this is a new hotel (1 month old), there are some teething problems: the English proficiency of the staff is developing, the elevator doesn’t work, they want you to pay for everything almost immediately and they don’t really have any information about the area or things to do there except for a large map in the foyer. Also, it is a 20 minute walk from the centre of town. If you don’t mind the walk and are looking for a spacious and clean room, Queen Hotel is a good option.

Lots of friendly staff, a lunch box can be ordered for a hike. Staff had no competence to respond to requests (boiled eggs for breakfast / possibly extend breakfast 5-10 minutes). Ants in the room. Cleanliness barely. Room service only when requested. Entire hotel totally unloving.

Clean spacious rooms with kettle and fridge. Very good value for money. Minor negatives: beds are a bit hard and western breakfast is a little bit basic. Nice location close to the lake with an easy walk to the night market. Nice beer restaurant across the road and the Veranda restaurant very close. It's on quite a busy road. No tuktuks or taxis prowling around the hotel but the staff will phone for one and ours arrived in 10min

Stayed here for a few nights. If you are looking for a clean ‘for Myanmar standards’ then the Queen Hotel might be the place for you. There’s no frills or excitement about the hotel or the rooms but they offer clean accommodation in a country that always seems full of dust. Breakfast is simple, there’s nothing great about it but there’s nothing to hate about it either. Breakfast is served on the roof so you get a nice view of the surrounding areas. Staff were always kind and pleasant.
