★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the dirtiest hotel we stayed at through our 9 months trip in South East Asia. The windows was full of spider webs and the bathroom was below any standard. I’m surprised they charge more than $10 for this dump. On a positive side they helped us booking tickets to Bagan :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 10000mmk for a private room with shower (if show up.no booking).no AC needed at that altitude.quiet and comfortable.fridge inside room.breakfast is unfortunately to accomodate foreign tourists (pancake,oily egg, fruits and coffee/tea) but included. wifi was only working the morning i left after 2nights in. for the price and kindness of staff it is a pretty good value for money.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thanks to all the Railroad Hotel staff who made our extended stay a wonderful experience. Rooms are clean and reasonably priced. Some days when we were too tired to go out they went to get food for us. Traveling with a 5 month old is stressful. Everyone was delighted to help entertain him while we ate breakfast which needless to say makes eating more enjoyable. Practically, Wifi is decent for central Myanmar and they can help arrange transportation if needed. If we need a hotel in Kalaw again this would be at the top of our list.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 5-min drive from the express gate and 10-min walking distance from the Kalaw Myoma market, this hotel is newly renovated a few months ago.
This pet-friendly hotel is 2-min walking distance to the Kalaw tower and the Kalaw rail way station (That's why the hotel is named "Railroad Hotel" I think).
We booked one double room and one triple room for two nights but we were given two triple rooms which were more convenient for us.
Clean room, clean bed, clean bathroom with hot & cold shower, full basic amenities and toiletries are provided. Don't forget to bring out the extra thick blankets from the closet to warm yourself at night.
An inexpensive room rate includes breakfast; either Asian style (fried rice with omelette) or Western style (pancake, toast with half-fried egg/omelette) + fruits + coffee/tea + we got extra fried tofu in the first day. Please tell the staff in advance what you prefer for the breakfast.
Bike and car rental are also provided. Please ask the reception for them.
P.S: You can ask more fried rice if one plate is not enough.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fair price for the services. We paid $23 for a night in a double room. Everything was dated and the room was cold, however they did offer blankets. One front desk staff member was helpful, others not so much. Breakfast was eggs (oily) and a pancake with fresh fruit. It was standard for what we have had in Myanmar thus far. Close to train station (3 minutes) and 10 minutes from the market and bus terminal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The hotel is located at a walking distance from railway station which is a popular spot for tourists and also close to Kalaw Myoma Market which by the way is a popular place for Shan traditional food. So, locationally, I would say it's really convenient to stay.
But the room service was really bad. Didn't change towels daily, restock amenities or even didn't make bed. The water pressure is too low in one room and one of the rooms we stayed didn't have hot water. The rooms doesn't have privacy at all. You can even hear one person snoring from the adjacent room. We even got complaint from one of the guests just by chatting each other(we were preparing for day trip from hotel at early hour). Although the dining space is spacious enough, the buffet counter is so crampy.
Overall, the staffs were super friendly but the service was really bad. They told us it's because of peak season and so on. But my opinion is that since they titled it as a hotel, it should at least have it's standards.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a nice place. Location for me a bit too far from town, but quiet. Staff is super friendly and flexible, room and breakfast were alright. Bed was very comfortable and it was clean. Facilities are super good: desk with chair, water, fridge, several lights and own bathroom with flipflops! :) I only missed more light (as in windows) in my room, but I saw the room in front of mine was super bright.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really enjoyed my stay here. I arrived at 4am on the night bus and got such a warm welcome despite the late arrival. My single room was cozy and clean and the bed was very comfortable (nice soft mattress and a thick blanket). The bathroom was basic but functional and clean, with hot water. As a solo traveler, the staff made a great effort to make me feel welcome and to suggest places to go. They rent bikes and motorbikes too. Its well-placed in town, about 10 mins walk from the town centre. Thank you for your hospitality!
