★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very disappointing, to be avoided! ! The hotel itself is basic but nice/charming however the beach in front and in its proximity is full of stones and rocks! On the 1st night we got stollen in the property and a lot of money + bank cards + ID card + phone were taken. The hotel security is very poor, there is only one guard who is unable to guard the main and beach entrances and there is no safe in the rooms. The responsible person at the reception was extremely helpful with the police but the manager (spoken on the phone) dismissed all responsability (which was incredible! !). To note that we never got the police declaration which is making life difficult back home. We see by other comments of this hotel that this is not the 1st time it happens. It is obvious that it will keep happening. We went to a much more decent and serviable nearby hotel for the same price and with a quite and beautiful beach just in front. Serene Hotel is really to be avoided!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An amazing seaside lodge that gives you the true natural, remote beach experience you're trying to find (as opposed to the generic resort in the "middle of town").
This gem of a place is quaint and a bit off the beaten path, yet with rental e-scooters or free bicycles you can easily reach either more secluded spots or the more commercial areas within a few minutes.
If you want a relaxing beach get-away, then Ngapali is the right beach for you and Serene is probably one of the best lodges for the relaxing atmosphere that is also still surrounded by local residents to give you a bit of a connected to Myanmar feeling.
It is also owned and operated by a local host that is just amazingly warm and inviting and takes pride in her craft and guest's happiness.
Don't expect over-the-top Hilton-like lux amenities in every nook and cranny, but do expect a quality experience that's warm, inviting and uniquely relaxing with authentic Burmese hospitality!
