★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are 2 Thu Maung. One is Thu Maung Restaurant and another BBQ and beer. Good car parking and large space for customer. This one is Myanmar restaurant and you can ordet other light food like noddle. Foods are healthy and clean. If you order one unit of Myanmar traditional curry, you can share two to three people.There are gift shop and you can order a wide range of beer and hard liquor. After your meal, you will served with Myanmar Traditional Laphatthoke. (Tea Leaf Salad)

Have many varieties of Myanmar cuisine.
Staffs are very friendly and provide great service. Price are not expensive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Crowded at lunch hours. Reason? Because taste is good, price is fair, reasonable desserts and somewhat ok service. Popular among travelers. Particularly Burmese dishes are better tasting than Chinese menu. And there's a counter to buy local snacks and product.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First tried my dinner here in 2013 November at the former place near Kalaw Myo Ma Market. The good taste makes me feel that I am at my mom's home. At the former place, the restaurant was run by owner's family members; cashier, waiter so on. Good taste, variety of dishes to choose, hospitality and reasonable price make this restaurant unique.
I reach here again in 2016 with my family. I have my dinner at the new place. Taste, hospitality still the same. The price is still reasonable. The service become better. Finally, this restaurant would be my first choice whenever I visit Kalaw.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Normally I wouldn’t pick any Burmese restaurant but I was part of a tour group so I had to follow what it had been arranged. Food is indeed Myanmar traditional with 4000 only for one dish of meat and rice and they provide you with lots of side dishes. Service was decent but staffs were so busy that I had to ask for one plate with cutlery for several times. And due to my dietary restrictions, I ordered one fried bok choy with no msg or cornstarch, had to wait a couple of minutes and the result was still salty and sweet. Overall, I wouldn’t visit again but if you’re fond of typical Burmese dishes, that’s the place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After so many year, Thu Maung Myanmar Traditional Restaurant became more popular and I tried again during my business travel to Kalaw last week, April 2022. You need to walk asap to get a seat without asking them for the table. Maybe because of the high season. Mostly 2nd floor has much space to get a table. Most of the meals are good just some of the vegetables salads are too sweet and I have to ask them to fix it. One thing I satisfy is the meals are coming with big amount. Any vegetables salad are big enough to eat with 2/3 people.
