Check in was already a bad experience as you was FORCED to tip for the luggage carrying. I've no problem to tip for a good service but I hate to be forced to tip.

Exclusive experienced for traveling to Bagan by the river cruise, the boat is really great with full option and services. Comfortable luxury seat with electronic plugs for charging devices.

Great boat, great trip, great (!!!!) staff. Drinks were great and prices on boat for additional drinks good as well. However, breakfast and lunch could be more spiced up - was a bit boring (nice but boring) :) Highly recommended to book with RV Panorama!

From Bagan to Mandalay. A very pleasant day cruise on Panorama boat. Boarding at 5am. Arriving in Mandalay at 5pm. The boat is great:lower deck with ac. Seats (around 60) can be set in slipping mode. Clean toilets. Upper desk with tables and deck chairs where you can enjoy the landscape and the sunshine. Food is ok. Staff is very friendly. Can be booked on the web or via a travel agency (37 usd)

Nice relaxing cruise, I'd recommend. At the beginning of the cruise I'd like to see the staff add an announcement about sharing the dining and sun lounge seating areas. Everyone has their own seat in the main air conditioned cabin but there is not enough seating for everyone to be eating at the same time or sun bathing at the same time on the upper deck. Typically, no problem as this is spread over time and well staggered. However, my Thai wife was very surprised to observe behavior from some Europeans that felt their bag needed a sun lounge seat while they ate, effectively taking 2 seats simultaneously. She commented at how rude that was and wondered if they teach courtesy at school because, typically, Thai's would not do that! An interesting cultural observation. The river level was low in Feb 2019 so it was interesting to watch the boat constantly maneuver around the shallow sand banks with help from the young boys up front with their "sonar sticks" for depth testing.

Great way to travel - clean, relaxing & comfortable. Our boat was less than half full so plenty of seats inside and up on the deck. Visit to the Hat Village was fun. On board food was typical Myanmar - average quality at cheap price. Beer was cold and plentiful. If you require Michelin 3* or gluten-free lactose-free kosher meals, with a mung bean on the side, then best bring your own. Great views of Burmese river life that you can't see by plane or car. Staff were friendly and engaging. The porters at each end are not part of the boat company. If you choose to use them to carry your bags expect to pay a "tip". Nobody gets up at 4am to carry foreigners luggage for free (would you?). We were happy to pay a few kyats to have some-one carry our bulky bags from taxi to jetty and up the gang plank (without ending in the river). As always the price will be cheaper if you negotiate with the porters _before_ they carry your bags off. Travellers tip: anytime you feel you are paying "too much" insist on a couple of photos with your vendor (after agreeing the price, but before handing over the cash). These may be some of your most memorable shots (and the vendor will never say no - ever). Tip #2. When you arrive in Bagan you will have to pay the Archaeological Zone Fee (25000Kyat/person, cash). There is usually a group of idiot tourists who don't have cash, or want to argue with the tax collectors, holding up the queue (really, they have come all the way to Bagan and begrudge paying 25000K to see a world heritage site ?????). Rather than wait forever for these clowns to be sorted, simply wave 25000K above your head and you will miraculously move to the front of the queue and be out in 30 seconds. Bagan is too good to waste time here.

We enjoyed the cruise from Mandalay to Bagan. It is the way to go to Bagan if you are not pressed for time for it took 11 hours. The alternative was a bus ride on bumpy roads for 5 hours. The cruise is relaxing. Breakfast and lunch were provided. Breakfast was scrambled egg with toast. Lunch was a choice between different curries. The meals were decent. The crew was friendly and helpful. About a third of the way the boat stopped by a village and we got a tour of a Burmese farm village. That was very interesting. I highly recommend the cruise.

I travelled together with my girlfriend, both 23 years old, from Mandalay to Bagan. Was a great day on the river. It‘s in my eyes a very calm way to travel from Mandalay to Bagan. You can relax and slow down your holidays a bit for one day. In general there is not a lot to see on the way, so don’t expect any spectacular views. It‘s basically just a normal boat ride down a river. Some people may say for that it is too expensive. But I was reading a lot, we planned the next days of our trip, enjoyed the sun/breeze on the upper deck and were talking to other tourist. My girlfriend was also sleeping a lot, which is easily possible on this boat, on the lower deck to recover from food poisoning. In addition the food was great, staff was super friendly and the trip to the village and the presentation about the longyi and thanaka was very interesting. I compared several companies beforehand and after having read couple of reviews from other boats I believe that this offers definitely he best experience all in all.
