★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 26.03.2018 - Úchvatný klášter na vrcholku hory. Je zde několik vstupů. Vzhledem k tomu, že je zde obrovské množství opic a musí se sem bosky, tak poslední desítky metrů schodiště jdete opravdu ve výkalech, které není možné obejít. Výhled je odsud krásný, ale samostatný klášter je hezčí a fotogeničtější zespodu. Pozor na opice i vzhledem k lesklým věcem. Kradou.
March 26, 2018 - Stunning monastery on top of the mountain. There are several entrances. Due to the fact that there is a huge number of monkeys and you have to be barefoot here, you really walk the last tens of meters of stairs in the feces, which cannot be bypassed. The view from here is beautiful, but the separate monastery is nicer and more photogenic from below. Beware of monkeys even due to shiny things. They steal.

Mieux vaut rester à Bagan pour en visiter les magnifiques temples.
Le trajet dure 1 h en comptant l inévitable stop dans une échoppe/gargote locale...sur une route goudronnée mais chaotique. Paysage sur le trajet quelconque.
Le monastère est perché en haut d un rocher (700 marches). Peu d'étrangers beaucoup de Birmans (mais c'est un long week-end férié en Birmanie).
Pas d'interet particulier si ce n est probablement la vue en cas de ciel dégagé.
Les escaliers hideux de saleté sont protégés des singes par des grillages métalliques et une brigade anti singes armée de lance-pierres qui repousse les plus téméraires.
Le plus touchant et le plus triste ce sont les centaines de paysans sortis de nulle part qui, massés sur quelques km au bord de la route attendent que les voitures de passage leur jettent quelques billets.
10k depuis Bagan en taxi/minibus partagé , 40k en taxi privé. Comptez 1h30/2h sur place.

Better to stay in Bagan to visit the magnificent temples.
The journey takes 1 hour, counting the inevitable stop at a local stall / tavern ... on a tarmac but chaotic road. Landscape on any route.
The monastery is perched on top of a rock (700 steps). Few foreigners, many Burmese (but it's a long holiday weekend in Burma).
No particular interest if it is probably the view in clear sky.
The hideous staircases of dirt are protected from the monkeys by metallic fences and an anti-monkey brigade armed with slingshots which repels the most daring.
The most touching and the saddest are the hundreds of peasants out of nowhere who, massed for a few km at the edge of the road wait for passing cars to throw them a few tickets.
10k from Bagan by shared taxi / minibus, 40k by private taxi. Allow 1h30 / 2h on site.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice from far...but closer the place is really grubby and littered. You have to walk up barefoot and the stairs and area is dirty(despite cleaners trying to keep it clean for donations) from the troops of monkeys roaming around. Don't carry any visible food to attract these animals. There are also too many "donation stations" and boxes - the most commercial Monastery I have seen. Rather charge an entry fee and make the place better. However, the view from the top is lovely and worth the effort.
