★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Romantic setting. Beautiful gardens. Large bungalow style room. OK, not perfectly soundproof. No fiestas, so no problem for us. Facilities immaculately kept. Very friendly staff. Best breakfast we had during our trip. Last but not least : perfect (!) location, 3 minutes to Andana Temple by feet. Didn't use the restaurant (drinks @ poolbar were bland) - went to Moon instead without regret.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a very comfortable time here, with spacious rooms and friendly service at all times. The restaurant was beautifully situated and the food was so delicious we ended up eating there every night (very much against our travel policy of eating at the place we're staying). Not a huge number of vegetarian dishes, but those I had many times were delicious. The resort is very close to everything in the area. We were there around the time of the annual market, which was quite an experience but could be noisy at night. A minor quibble.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely staff, huge rooms and a brilliant place to escape after a day of exploring temples. Honestly couldn't have asked for a better stay in Bagan! The location is pretty idyllic given that it is smack in the centre of Old Bagan, right by some of the most prominent temples. The food was lovely (huge portions!), the pool felt like a bit of an oasis and the staff were on hand to help and answer questions whenever needed! Will be recommending this place to my parents when they visit next year!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ With so many options of places to stay in Bagan, I would highly recommend The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate! You can't beat the location, staff, and food!
Bagan is amazing, but Tharabar Gate made it that much more special. From the second we arrived to the hotel we were greeted with helping hands and big smiles. Check-in was a breeze and as we were guided to our room, we were told about all the amenities of the hotel (in both English and Chinese), where we could get our hands on some electric bikes, as well as which temples to check-out first!
The rooms were huge with plenty of space to unload our bags. The bed was super comfortable, there was a great workspace facing the window, and the bathrooms were equipped with everything you would need.
With regards to food, the breakfast was fantastic and had everything you could imagine from yogurt, fresh fruit, ready to order omelettes, to a local breakfast. Dinner was especially delightful with the entire garden lit up with a reflection off of their stunning pool.
When we return to Bagan, we will for sure stay here again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The location is just perfect: in the heart of Old Bagan. The hotel has an amazing garden and swimming pool. Breakfast buffet is conséquent and fresh. The rooms are huge and really clean. We loved the eco friendly efforts (no one-time usage plastic in the room). The staff was really helpful as we had issues with our credit card and helped us to find a working ATM. We had a wonderful journey there!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The rooms were simply dirty. The towels were always having some kitchen and stinky smell. No matter how many times we asked them to change the towels, they were always the same. I suppose they didn't dry them properly.
The floor was never mopped.
In general, you could see that the hotel needed serious maintaining. But the worst of all was that dirty green swimming pool!
We told them that we came for the pool and they didn't care at all. They just told us that they had too many people for Thingyan. So we wasted 3 days watching that frog pond and when we were checking out, surprise! The swimming pool was clear again!
They just received a new wave of local guests so it made sense to clean the pool. Of course, it wasn't necessary to do it for a few guests.
Only the garden was worth the trip.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Let me share my experience, we had comfortable time here. The hotel Tharabar is beautiful place with swimming pool. Great customer service, rooms are also spacious and clean with Air-con. The location is pretty given that it is smack in the centre of Old Bagan. If you wanna go outside, easy to rent the electric scooter in front of hotel. Price is 8000-10000MMK for whole day.
