Galaxy Motel

We randomly picked this hotel on booking at last minute, and we were well inspired to do so ! Kim and the boys have been such amazing hosts, really helpful and friendly ! They speak perfect english, and quite good french the a lovely accent. Apart from the amazing staff, the room was big enough, with good A/C. Clean bathroom with hot shower ! The breakfast change everyday, with fruits and delicacies directly from the market.

The staff at this family run guesthouse make this place!! So genuinely nice and go above and beyond to make your trip to Hpa-an enjoyable. Verified our tickets, stayed up late and drove us to our bus stop for our trip to Yangon. If Nice and super relaxed hosts is what you like, stay here.

When you arrive here, you get a very friendly welcome with staff insisting to carry your bags and you get a quick explanation on the area and the activities that you can do here. Recommend to stay here! The place seems simple from outside, but the room is relatively spacious and has hot water. The included breakfast is different everyday and with multiple dishes.

I am also very surprised by all the positive reviews but from staying there I see that all the guests seem to have a good rapport with the management. Unfortunately I was not so lucky. My friend and I had booked from the 4th - 7th and were arriving after a 15 hour night bus from Inle Lake on the 5th at 6am. My friend made sure she got our previous hostel to call ahead in advance to let them know that although we would be arriving early the next morning we were definitely coming. The hope was that since we had booked for the night before that we would be able to get straight into our room, nap for a few hours etc and then head straight out to explore. Upon arrival you can imagine our disappointment when we were told that they had given our room away because we were an hour later than expected. The young boys on the desk got the manager, who approached us in a very confrontational manner, and insisted that the message they have received was different. She said she thought we were not coming and didn’t want to lose money so she gave the room away. From my experience, when you book through Agoda and the booking says pay at the property, if you do not turn up you are automatically charged. If this has not happened when people have not turned up for bookings then it is her mistake and in no way should she treat innocent customers like that. She was talking in her language in a very aggressive tone and slamming things down. Very unprofessional. I really didn’t want to stay after that so I started looking online for other places but there was nothing available close by. Luckily a guest was checking out two hours later so they offered us that room and gave us breakfast in the meantime. The manager’s whole demeanour towards us during our stay was very cold and she refused to even look in my eye. To make matters worse, on the morning of our departure she made a point to once again say that it was apparently our/our previous hostel’s fault and not hers and to emphasise the fact that she had not charged us for the breakfast on the first morning. I mean come on, fair enough they didn’t charge us for that first night in the end, but free breakfast is the very least she could have done after the massive inconvenience. Also, a genuine apology would have been great. The rest of the staff were really friendly and smiley but the place itself was very mediocre. Our rooms were not cleaned at all during our stay and the place is very basic. The hot shower was great though! Also they offer really reasonably priced scooter hire.

One of the best places where have stayed during the entire trip so far! We arrived around 2am in the morning and they welcomed as with a big smile and a lot of patience. The quote big private room where we stayed was very clean and had air-con and hot water. 15 dollars x couple. The breakfast the next morning was delicious (veggie samosa, sweet cake, banana, delicious the or coffee). The first floor is so well decorate, you have a lot of books to check! The WiFi is pretty strong. All staff super helpful. The owner has an amazing English level and knows diferent languages. This Hotel is also very well located. We recommend it to everybody staying in this city.

Amazing hostel. Staff were very nice all the time. Breakfast of local food was really delicious and each day was different, creative and generous. The boys that work there are always very kind and want to help you all the time. The place is very good located close to bus stop. Room was very clean and comfortable. They organized a very good tour of an entire day around the caves. I really recommend it and it costs only 7000 Kyats per person. But if you prefer to do it yourself you can also rent a motorbike with them. They have also free water refill what is very convenient.

Loved our stay at galaxy, really friendly staff, r great breakfast and the owner goes above and beyond to make you comfortable and help you get around. The two tours we booked through them were absolutely amazing, made our stay so good. It is a 3 star or less kind of place so go in with that expectation (esp bathroom ladies) and you’ll have a great time.

We had an excellent stay at the Galaxy Motel: good location, the rooms are clean and the staff is just great, always helpful. They propose excursions and transportation around the city at good price. The breakfast is very good as well. They even let us leave our baggage and have a shower after we checked out as our bus was late at night. That was really great!
