Thalassa Guest House is a perfect place to experience a unique and peaceful stay with the help of Sandar the owner,who shared her knowledge and hospitality of Myanmar’s people. She is definitely in her zone with her attitude of prioritizing the wellness of her guests. Her well maintained house gives us the feeling of being at home. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Positive: Despite the clean sea and stunning miles of tropical beaches, beside the road south, beyond the entertainingly rustic ferry, Gwa is still not yet on the tourist trail and provides a great insight into unchanged rural Myanmar. Go now, before the new road improvements are completed! If you don’t expect any other tourist infrastructure, you won’t be disappointed by Thalassa Guest House. The building has been beautifully renovated and the accommodation is comfortable. The lovely young Myanmar owner has had an interesting and varied career which has taken her to Europe and beyond. She speaks good English and fluent French. She made us very welcome, loaned us some bikes, looked after us very well and made sure that our onward travel arrangements worked as intended..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I unfortunately spent only one night in this beautifully decorated guest house, but I will definitely consider stay longer next time I go through Gwa. The owner Ma Sandar speaks fluent French and English. She is very kind and helpful, and is an invaluable resource if you wish to rent a boat, a bicycle or a motorcycle to visit the surrounding beaches and islands.
