★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Its cheap place but still wualuty is below expectation even for this price. Shower is disgusting. There are no towels nor toilet paper. Sink was so dirty and disgusting that i was seriously considering if i really want to use it. The good thing is that it is in the center if the town. However i recommend to fibd something else.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Golden Lily guest house is only known for its cheap and very good quality trek and this is really the only good service there. We had a room for a few hours which was dirty, so cold and smelly there was even water on the floor. The common bathroom was awful : toilets without flush, many spiders in the shower (with hot water which was pleasant). The trek experience though was amazing and Robyn the best guide we could hope for!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I only spent one night there, but the staff definitely didn't seam enthusiastic. The rooms were cozy & the beds were warm. There is free breakfast & it's in a good location. Best part of it was the company they use to book your trek to Inle with. Jungle King, our guide Sao was a legend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Breakfast is good (pancakes with banana) but this is where the good part ends. Price for one night was 20000 Kyats (negotiated from initial 22000K) with everything very dirty and uncleaned for ages. Unfortunately that was one of the cheapest options in Kalaw and we were really tired so we decided to stay. The lady owner only cares about your ? You have to pay for water, toilet paper and other basic stuff that should be included in the price. There are better options for the same money in Kalaw. We wouldn't stay again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The owner is just interested in your money. You will have to pay for everything: water and toilet paper for example... Shower is cold (and looks really dirty)... Small room, smelling dust.
It's the cheapest in Kalaw, that's why we went there 16 000 kyats per night for two people. But if you can spend a bit more, go in another place.
Moreover, don't ask them to keep your bag if you want to go trekking to Inle. Her brother is guide for trekking but not fair at all! He asked us to pay 60$ per people for the 3d/2n trek, instead of 38 000 kyats (almost 24$) in agencies... Or we could wait for more people to do it in group (but depend on the people in the guest wich will ask... meaning you will spend more time in the hotel, so give them more money...) The day after, he finally proposed 40$ per people, and to start the trek the next day. Next morning, he told us: "no, not today, we have to wait for more people, maybe tomorrow... "
Fortunatly we went early at Jungle King trekking and ask them to join a group, they still had places. We did à wonderful trek!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was great! We arrived at 3am on a night bus from Bagan and conveniently there was somebody on the side of the road offering accommodation for 5000ks p.p. It was well worth it for 4 hrs of sleep before our trek. The room was facing a great sunset too! Breakfast was probably the best one I ve had in Myanmar and the owner was a lovely soft spoken lady. I was hesitant because of some bad reviews I read here but I have to say we are so pleased with our stay!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is so beautiful and well kept. Truly fresh, clean and gorgeous ambience. Loads of flowering trees, great landscape. They also arrange trekking with a guide who has been doing trekking for last 10 years or more. Recommended

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We arrived early morning and had only two hours till the trek but after 8 hrs in a bus, we were in need of some rest. It's a pity they don't count with these situations, as buses usually get there early morning and people stop here only to start the treks. So we paid for 2 rooms (2 couples) to get a shower and an hour long nap. It was not expensive, but given the length of our stay it was. Anyway, the rooms are very simple and bathroom very dirty. Shower didn't work properly, toilet didn't flush and there were some back-doors who knows where, which could not be closed properly nor locked nor were the doors from the bathroom to the room. Breakfast were amazing. The lady who runs it was very business oriented, no smiles, no emotions, no small talks. Just facts, money, go! The trek was outstanding, but I am not rating it here.
