★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ⛰️ Handrails most of the way, this is quite a vertical climb with many stairs. Small shop at the top for cool drinks. Watch for the flame tree in the small valley half way up the climb - in full bloom it's amazing. View would be good, but rarely clear. Keep you plastic water bottles hidden from the monkeys - they will snatch them for water near the top.

There are some food stands along the way up that you can buy drinks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ How good was this one? I could have rated 6 stars if possible. Well, this was not that easy, but if you take your time, nearly anyone could climb this.
My watch recorded 609m D+, 1h02 to climb up. Around 50 min to go down (sometimes I found it harder). I'm correctly trained so if you're used to make some sport on a regular basis it'll be ok.
Between 2 and 3 hours to work this out is reasonable, there are several spots to have a rest. The path is mainly composed by stairs, your legs will definitely make you feel them on the next day.
Once on the top, the lookout is amazing!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ we came in from the south entrance. paid 4.000 k (ca. 3$). walked up 1.5hrs and went down the same way. the view and the experience are really nice. worth doing it when in Hpa-An.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There two ways to get to the pagoda at the top. Check the location on mapsme. I did it coming from the south, passing through Lumbini Garden. Entrance fee is 4000 Kyat for foreigners. The climb is really exhausting. My fitness is average and it took me about 70 min to climb to the top and funnily enough a few minutes more to get down. Probably because my legs felt like pudding after all the stairs. I only took a few short breaks to catch my breath and take photos.
Unfortunately there was quite a lot of fog when i arrived, so the view wasn't good. But it still was a lot of fun. So be prepared to sweat a lot and to spend at least 3+ hours. And visit preferably in the morning when the temperature is still low.

The 360° view over Hpa An, the river, the surrounding hills and countryside is beautiful, and there are adorable monkey families roaming the hills - well worth the strenuous hike (and the unfortunately plastic-littered path). One advice : get there early if you want to avoid the scalding midday heat during the hike (plan a good two hours for the 700m ascent). 4000 Kyat entry.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Start early to avoid the sun and be prepared for a fairly rigorous hike up lots of stairs. You can buy some snacks and drinks on the trail. We saw a few monkeys along the way up. Tried to watch monkey feeding at the top but it did not seem to exist. Lovely views from the pagoda area.
